The American College's State Farm Center for Women and Financial Services recently released a report which explained that women have a more significant financial and physical risk for disability than men.

The report said that half of women said that if they ended up with a disability, they would have a significant amount of trouble paying for medical expenses. This is because many disabilities that occur in aging can affect women more than men, especially arthritis.

"The implications of this research are startling," said Mary Quist-Newins, director of the Center. "Financial services professionals need to start educating their clients - especially their female clients - about the steps they can take to prepare for disability."
