Sunday, August 2. 2009What drugs will the US government cover?
With affordable health insurance being at the top of the charts everyday in the media many are still wondering what will be covered?
I think it's a fair question to ask. I have submitted dozens of questions through different media groups asking for someone to find out what will/ and will not be covered. The only answer I have received, which is not an answer is: The administration has not yet determined this yet. How can we possibly be asked to decide on a public health insurance option when we have no idea what if will cover. So since we cannot find out from our own government maybe we can find out from a government that has National Health Care now. I wonder if Canada or the UK cover these medications below? Are these all free in other countries? Anyone can get them whenever they like as long as their Dr.'s allows it? Are you taking any of the following medications? You may want to find out which ones will be covered because if you have health insurance there is a very good chance all are covered now. Some very popular US drugs: Advair Diskus (asthma med) Celexa (anti depressant) Crestor (treats high cholesterol) Enbrel (injectable med used for various conditions) Detrol (overactive bladder) Effexor (anti anxiety) Flovent Diskus (asthma) Lamisil (nail fungus) Lexapro (anti depressant) Lipitor (treats high cholesterol) Nexium (acid reflux) Plavix (heart) Prevacid (acid reflux) Propecia (hair loss) Tricor (treats high triglycerides) Valtrex (anti viral used for herpes) Vytorin (high cholesterol) Wellbutrin (anti depressant) If you are on these and you lived in Canada you may be surprised, many of these you would NOT be taking, in fact you wouldn't even know if was an option. The Canadian Dr.'s have a list of approved drugs....if they are not on the list.....you will not get them. What will the US government do since they like the Canadian option and they way it works so much? I think we know the answer now. |
